What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the simple act of being present - being mentally and physically aligned.  Just as the image above demonstrates, being in a mindful state means that you are aware of what is going on in the physical world around you and your mind has not drifted away to the past or the future. Many of our clients struggle with staying in the present moment and say things like:
  • My mind is constantly spinning
  • I can't control my thoughts
  • I can't fall asleep at night because my mind won't shut off
  • My stress level is high - I find myself worrying a lot
  • I lose focus easily and feel disconnected from reality
  • My thoughts make me anxious, fearful, and stressed

The fact is that there are simple tools and techniques that make achieving a mindful state simple, quick, and easy!  There are very few resources out there, however, that explain HOW to do it.  If you have ever wondered how to gain control of your thoughts or how to SHUT THEM OFF, our Mindfulness Training is the answer.

Once you have a concrete way to become present, and practice with it for a while, it is a life changing tool that will eliminate many of life's challenges all on its own!  (Yes, it is THAT powerful).

Thousands of books have been written on the topic of mindfulness - yet people still find it a difficult state to achieve.  New Moon Self-Development Center's highly effective mindfulness coaching is at the cornerstone of our clients' success.

How does Meditation fit in with Mindfulness?

There are many different ways to meditate - whether you are doing mindful meditation (centering), guided meditations (journeying), spiritually based meditations, or simple breathing techniques, over 3000 studies have shown that health and wellness benefits are enormous.  Here is an excellent article on the scientifically proven benefits of meditation.

At New Moon Self-Development Center, we highly recommend incorporating meditation in your life.  Calming your body and mind is a key part of being mindful and, although our Mindfulness Tools allow you to center and focus at will without having to enter a meditative state, practicing meditation regularly will make it easier and allow you to stay present for longer periods of time.

A quick browse on YouTube for Meditations will yield thousands of results.  Don't be intimidated - it is a process!  Read our blog article about How to Meditate in 3 Minutes or less to get started.
